Innovation Internship

This interview offers a glimpse into Camille Siersbæk's role as Tech & Innovation Associate at Innovation Centre Denmark. Camille is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Economics and Business Administration with a specialization in International Business at Copenhagen Business School.

Why did you pursue an internship at the Denmark in Silicon Valley mission?

To pursue a unique opportunity of getting to know what Silicon Valley is REALLY about while also navigating the space where public meets private. Both have been longstanding dreams of mine and the reason why I pursued my BSc in International Business and Politics - the speed and scale of the technologies and innovations coming out of this place is simply unparalleled.

What's been your most significant professional learnings gained from being here?

The degree to which a culture of openness and ambitions, fuelled by diversity and A LOT of money is driving this unique environment. I sincerely hope that I will sustain my newfound love of networking and curiosity of new ideas when I come back home to Denmark.

How has your internship experience in Silicon Valley influenced your future career goals?

It has not changed my career goals per se, but it has opened my eyes to the plethora of opportunities arising in the space of new business ventures and the support and expertise you can gain on the journey.

How would you describe your personal growth during your internship in Silicon Valley?

One of the most important learnings for me, has been to realize how much we are still lacking behind in Denmark when it comes to being inclusive and open minded to people of different backgrounds and perspectives than ourselves. I feel that we are sometimes quick to close off meaning that we miss out on valuable experiences both personally and professionally.

How has it been living in and experiencing California?

California is truly an amazing place to live, especially if you enjoy exploring nature. I have really loved experiencing the area with my lovely fellow-interns, spanning across day-trip hikes, restaurant visits, travelling to neighboring states and dancefloors ;-).
